2023: Okorocha Wins Igbo Vote For Presidency~vox Pop Online Poll

Former Governor of Imo State and Senator representing Imo West District, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has grossed the highest number of votes to emerge the preferred candidate of the Igbo for Nigeria’s Presidency in 2023.

The President of Rochas Foundation College polled 20% of the votes cast by respondents in a vox-pop conducted by our correspondent on facebook to emerge the preferred candidate of the South East for the nation’s coveted political seat.

The Minister of State for Education, Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, came second polling 7.27% of the votes followed by former President of the Senate, Chief Anyim Pius Anyim and incumbent governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, who garnered 3.63% of the votes apiece.

Surprisingly, the former governor of Abia State, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu got 1.8% of the votes, the lowest among the six people reported to have been picked by the North as its choice in the event that the presidency should be zoned to the South East in 2023.

The North is reported to have said it would support any of the sixtet namely Senator Rochas Okorocha, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim or Gov. Dave Umahi in the event that the country decides to cede the presidency to the South East region.

However, some respondents opposed Okorocha’s nomination while others believed that the North would not concede the Presidency to the Igbo in this lifetime.

They were also respondents who do not want any of the sixtet to be elected President of the country. They constituted 14.54% of the respondents who participated in the vox-pop.

Most of such respondents nominated some other Igbo such as former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, former deputy governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Kingsley Muoghalu; a former Commissioner for finance in Lagos State, Ben Akubueze and Director General, World Trade Organization (WTO), Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala for the plum job.

Yet, a respondent, George Ibecheozor insisted on a constitution amendment that would provide for a level playing field for all ethnic groups to find expression in the polity instead of nominating an Igbo President to serve in the present skewed federal structure.

Mehcosa Join The List Of 4 Promising Female Artist To WatchOut For

In a music industry with influx of male artistes already, it only plain make-sense to giving attention to female artistes who are worthy to be a shinning star.
In past few years, we have witnessed a significant number of female artistes holding it down consistently every year in the music industry.
The likes of Simi, Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade, Teni among others have proved it beyond reasonable doubts that it is not impossible for a female artiste who is talented to have a big break in Nigeria’s music industry.
However, breaking out of the pandemic year 2020 to the first few months of this 2021, some female artistes are already looking promising.
Of course, it won’t be a bad idea to have aboard in the music industry a new breed of female artistes who are talented enough to make impactful records in this present dispensation.
Below Are Fantastic 4 Female Artistes To Watch Out For In 2021 – 2025:-

4. GoodGirl LA
GoodGirl LA
She is a Nigerian born Afro-fusion female artiste with a lot of potentials and lots to offer in the music industry.
A girl who dropped out of the University Of Calabar where she got admission to study Nursing and moved down to Lagos to study music, GoodGirl LA and music can be likened to when passion meets art.
Despite her presence in the since 2015 with debut single “Faraway”, GoodGirl LA still didn’t have too much spotlight shinning on her until she got involved with Vector on a song “Early Momo” this year.
The song actually showed what an amazing artiste GoodGirl LA can be and a serious attention on her will be more than deserving.

3. Ayraa Starr
Mavin Records signee, Ayraa Starr has also proven to be one of the few female artistes to watch out for in the music industry.
After the exit of Tiwa Savage at Mavin Records, Ayraa got signed to the label to challenge the legacy of the ex mavin First Lady.
With the release of her debut EP … and hit track Away, Ayraa looks to have what it takes to grow bigger in the music industry.
Her voice captivates so easily and serenade the soul. No doubt, the best of Ayraa is yet to come.

2. Tems
Tems Baby as she is fondly called creeped into Nigeria’s music industry like a thief in the night. No one actually saw this amazing talent coming through until when she released her massive hit single “Try Me” in 2019.
Her vocal dexterity in the Alternative and Afro-Rnb appeared to be in a Simi pro-Max form. Little wonder “Try Me” had over 4milliom views on YouTube within a little period of time.
Her single “Damages” off Broken Ears EP is another fantastic song to behold and of course Nigerians are yet to get over the magic she performed with Wizkid on the track “Essence” off Made In Lagos album.
Undoubtedly, Tems is riding on a fast lane in the music industry and the only way to keep up with this excellent talent is by watching out for her henceforth.

1. Mehcosa
Leveling up and hitting her stride, Mehcosa looks incredibly ready to take on the music industry and ravage everywhere with her exceptional music talent this year and more years to come.
It will be pretty difficult to take a serious look backward at 2020 and a formation of Mehcosa’s cover sounds will not come up in our heads.
Mehcosa was one of the few artistes that kept music lovers company in 2020. A pandemic year that got young Mehcosa making covers of hit songs with her melodious voice.

Her music prowess got validated by scores of A-listers in the music industry. Burna Boy, Yemi Alade, Tiwa Savage and many more have at one time acknowledged Mehcosa’s talent.
At the moment, Mehcosa’s music gift has been noticed by a huge number of music lovers who are always looking forward to her musical contents to enjoy.
In bid to shift paradigm and step out of the confinement of music covers, Mehcosa made her huge fanbase have a feel of her own original songwriting skills as she released her debut single “Modupe” in October last year.
While anticipating her forthcoming EP it is necessary to point out why this young, cute and talented Mehcosa is an artiste to watch out for this 2021 and more years.

Organ Harvesting, Human Trafficking, and the Black Market

Fifty years ago, the abomination of slavery seemed like a thing of the past. But history has a way of repeating itself. Today, we find that human slavery is once again a sickening reality. At this moment, men, women and children are being trafficked and exploited all over the world: 2.4 million have been trafficked into forced labour worldwide of these, 600,000 to 800,000 are trafficked across borders each year and 12,000 children are working as slaves on cocoa plantations in West Africa. It is impossible to ever reach a consensus on the true scale of the problem but, regardless of the figures, what matters is that human trafficking is big and getting bigger.

What matters is that every number represents a human life destroyed. It is happening on every continent and in almost every country: whether the place we live is a source, destination or transit point for trafficking, none of us can claim to be wholly unaffected by this crime.

In criminal law, kidnapping is the unlawful transportation, asportation and confinement of a person against their will. It can also be defined as false imprisonment by means of abduction, both of which are separate crimes that when committed simultaneously upon the same person merge as the single crime of kidnapping.

The asportation/abduction element is typically but not necessarily conducted by means of force or fear. That is, the perpetrator may use a weapon to force the victim into a vehicle, but it is still kidnapping if the victim is enticed to enter the vehicle willingly (e.g. in the belief that it is a taxi).

Kidnapping may be done to demand for ransom in exchange for releasing the victim, or for other illegal purposes. Kidnapping can also be accompanied by bodily or psychological injury which elevates the crime to aggravated kidnapping.

A new form of this crime called is gradually rising to the fore in the united states, with its operational center in California where victims are heavily sedated by drugs before their abduction. Also more scary is the fact that a lot of the perpetrators are infact Nigerians. The victim catalog is now also beginning to include Nigerians both home and abroad.

In October of 2020, a Newport Beach pot dealer in California was sentenced to life in prison for the kidnapping and mutilation of a Southern California marijuana dispensary owner who was found in the Mojave Desert after a harrowing abduction.

Hossain Nayeri, who gained fame by staging a daring escape from the Orange County jail while awaiting trial, was sentenced to two consecutive life-without-parole prison terms for the brutal kidnapping and torture.

One thing we are not sure about is if this cartel is operated by the same Nigerian organ harvesting cartel that sells human organs as simple as other wares in the Anambra market but with the expertise of surgeons and anesthesiologists.

When families or individuals are tired of spending years on a medical waiting list, they sometimes purchase body parts – kidneys, eyes, lungs, heart, limbs and more – for transplant on the black market. This and many more are the driving forces behind the growing human traficking and organ harvesting.

It sounds like science fiction, but organ harvesting is an unfortunate fact in the criminology world of today. It is a criminal offense to traffic body parts, or perform transplants from any source not legally affiliated with a hospital or other medical facility, but legality doesn’t deter either side of these transactions.

Notably, quite a lot of illegally-trafficked body parts are harvested by any means necessary, and are gladly received, no-questions-asked, by the person willing to pay top dollar for a kidney, a heart, or a hip.

According to the UN Gift Hub, organ trafficking falls into three categories:

(1) Traffickers who trick the victim into giving up an organ for no cost.

(2) Con artists who convince victims to sell their organs, but who do not pay or who pay less than they agreed to pay

(3) Doctors who treat people for ailments which may or may not exist, and remove the organs without the victim’s knowledge

The organ trafficking trade involves a host of offenders. As the UN Gift noted, there is a recruiter who seeks out the ‘donor,’ there is a transporter of the organs, there are staff of the hospital or clinic that receives the organs, and of course the medical practitioners who perform the transplants. There are also middlemen, contractors, buyers and the banks that store the organs/tissue

Just this week a missing little girl was found alive, with her throat slit, and dumped in a soak away pit not far from her parent’s home after she went missing for days. She had ben abducted by a carpenter who lived right behind her parent’s hom

Gradually tipping it over the edge as these criminals throw cautin to the wind as the victims are now closer home as family and friends are not spared.

Timi Frank condemns appointment of Sole Administrator for NDDC

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Monday, condemned in strong terms, the appointment of a Sole Administrator (SA) for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Frank who made this assertion in a statement in Abuja, insisted that the appointment of SA to manage the affairs of the NDDC is illegal as there is no such provision in the Act establishing the Commission.

He urged the governors of States in the region and elected representatives of the people in both Chambers of the National Assembly, as well as the people of the area to outrightly reject the abnormality.

He warned that appointing SA which is against the Act establishing the Commission is “detrimental, unproductive and will end up in further destroying the already worsened situation in the NDDC.”

He vowed to challenge the appointment of the Sole Administrator in a court of competent jurisdiction should the Federal Government refuse to rescind its decision.

He noted that following the assumption of Senator Godswill Akpabio as the minister of Niger Delta Affairs, there has been an alarming rise in acts of illegalities in the Commission some of which were exposed by Committees of the National Assembly that recently probed embarrassing corrupt practices in the agency.

Frank, a consistent advocate for good governance, rule of law and equitable development of the Niger Delta region and her people, added that the already discovered cases of looting in the NDDC will get worse with the appointment of a Sole Administrator “who will ultimately be used as tool for personal gain by the cabal that facilitated his appointment and thus create ample room for more fraud, impunity and illegalities in the intervention agency.”

He urged the leaders of the Niger Delta region to reflect on the sacrifices of their leaders past, while he insisted that, “this was not what the likes of late Isaac Boro and Saro Wiwa paid the supreme price for.”

Frank said: “I want to use this medium to call upon the elders, governors and youths of the Niger Delta to reject this appointment of a stooge by Godswill Akpabio and his cohorts in the Presidency to further do their bidding in the continued impoverishment of our dear region and people.

“The reign of impunity, fraud and illegalities in the commission must not be allowed to continue.

“Why is Akpabio and his cohorts in the presidency refusing to appoint a substantive Board for the NDDC, but instead, they have moved from an Interim Management Committee to a Sole Administrator that is not known by the Act establishing the NDDC?

“If Akpabio is honest, transparent and has no skeleton or ulterior notions, why appoint a Sole Administrator from Akwa Ibom state that is against the extant Act which clearly states that the Managing Director of the NDDC must come from either Delta or Bayelsa states?”

He further warned that the appointment of a Sole Administrator was against the growth and development of the region as those behind the reprehensible development are only interested in the continued pillaging of the resources of the NDDC.

“No government since the return of democracy in Nigeria has ever stood against the development and prosperity of the people of the Niger Delta region like the regime of General Muhammadu Buhari and this, we must resist.

“The refusal to ensure that the right thing is done, will lead to protests by the good people of the Niger Delta because despite the claims of conducting a forensic audit of the NDDC, no report has been issued till date.

“This is condemnable, despicable and an outright deviation from the purpose of establishing the NDDC which is to ensure an even development of the Niger Delta region and her people. What we have today is the Niger Delta Sharing and Impoverishment Commission.”

“The NDDC is not a platform for the settlement of cronies but a commission that will help accelerate the development and growth of the Niger Delta region.

“Akpabio is only taking advantage of the people of the Niger Delta region through the Commission knowing too well that there is no President in charge of this country.

“Therefore, the needful must be done if we, genuinely, want the development and growth of the Niger Delta,” he declared.
